Sometimes it is so cold and rainy/snowy/windy outside that I just want to sit by the fire and be able to have a drink.
Especially this one, which is a total throwback to my time in college, when I would order this when it was snowing outside and sip it at a bar of the White Dog, a college bar in Philadelphia, feeling very adult, as opposed ot the typical college-drink of a Midori sour:)
Brandy Alexander:
1 ounce Brandy (I also made it with Bourbon in a pinch)
1 1/2 ounces Amaretto
3 ounces cream
Pour everythign over ice, mix together. Strain if desired and sprinkle a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg on top.
It's a dessert in a glass.
Any other wintertime libations I should try?
We don't have much of a "liquor cabinet" at home, mostly just wine, and scotch for my husband, so this was a big move into mixed drinks for me:)

One more reason I like you - you're a mixologist supreme! Here's to creating amazing cocktails in 2013! We'll toast each other at Haven!

This cracks me up--drinking Brandy Alexanders in college. I was lucky to get Genny Cream in a can. Hey--I could get it for a buck-fifty a six-pack. (But then again, I was at a small liberal arts school outside of Youngstown, not the Ivy League.)
ReplyDeleteMulled wine is always a nice winter warmer and the smell of the cinnamon and spices coming from the stove top is devine!
ReplyDeleteOh yum! This sounds delicious and perfect for a winter drink!
