My oldest daughter is now five! I can't fully comprehend how she got to be that old, that she is entering kindergarten in a few short weeks, or how I'm remotely old enough to have a child in elementary school:)
To celebrate, we hosted a butterfly themed birthday party.
I hung butterfly decorations, which my mom purchased at Pier 1, from the chandeliers in the dining room.
Butterfly clips in the flowers too.
I used the dining room table as the crafts table, since the kids made their own butterfly wings and butterfly finger puppets as the first activity.
The kitchen island served as the buffet for all the food. You can click here to see recipes for all the food we served, know that the food was yummy, and very butterfly-ed.
The champagne and beer were served outside in the orange cooler we bought way back when.
I used little tabs from Target to mark the drink glasses so we could tell them all apart. Not exactly my washi tape party cups, but it turns out I had forgotten to buy more plastic cups for this party!
Our new cantilevered umbrella worked wonders to provide a bit of shade on the deck.
The view was ah-mazing that day.
And I brought out an adjustable height folding table, set up our kid chairs, and that's where the kids ate, and where we did the whole cake thing:)
I did make a few crafty things. My husband is smirking somewhere since he thinks I Martha-Stewart-ed-out on this party. Not even close, my dear. See how calm I am?
Since the kids were eating outside and we had a butterfly pinata, I set up a sunscreen station by the doors that lead onto the deck.
The birthday girl.
My dad, teenage sisters and our baby. This was her first day wearing a clip in her hair, I'm so excited for the hair accessories to come!
More party pics...
The pinata scrum:)
My mom got our daughter an American Girl doll. It's Marie-Grace in case you know about these things, and she is over the moon. I love it since I could coordinate all the grandparents in purchasing accessories for it. I'm hoping this can last a few years:)

ReplyDeleteSo adorable, Jessica! Filing some ideas away for later since my girls love butterflies. It was even the first word for one of them. Not Mama, not Dada. Baba, for her favorite butterfly book. And that sunscreen station is such a thoughtful touch party goers. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThis party look like so much fun! I hope you’ll link this up today (or anytime this weekend) at One Creative Weekend on OneCreativeMommy.com.

ReplyDeleteMy daughter just said she wanted a butterfly birthday party. Granted her birthday is almost a year away, so things could change. However, I wanted to check out yours when I saw it on the link party. You did a great job! I love the little cups with the butterflies on the side. I love the big butterflies hanging from the ceiling. Way to go. Jodi @ www.meaningfulmama.com
ReplyDeleteOne has to start thinking about the birthday party ideas beforehand so that there is no delay in arranging the birthday cake and inviting guests. Hiring professional planners would be a privilege.
ReplyDeleteThis is a real scoop for everybody. This is an interesting blog page. I do hope you could do some more post. Good job!
