This is what we get for creating a long hallway gallery with a series of doors. No one knows which is which. In this case, they door with the frosted glass inset is the door downstairs, then the coat closet, the french doors lead into my library, and the final door is the pantry.
I can't tell you how many people open the coat closet door to try to get out.
To help alleviate that confusion, I decided to create a graphic of a hanger and put it on the door.
Then for the pantry.
And the powder room since everyone asks where it is.
Then I did it for the mudroom closet.
We also have a problem that when you arrive at our house, it is unclear that the front door is actually up 2 flights of stairs.
See how yucky they are? We promise that stuccoing the exposed concrete (which still has the pencil marks from construction on it) and replacing the handrail with a new one, are on our list.
Not exactly inviting like this lovely black mudroom door that is at entry level.
Same process... Place decal on door.
Peel off and voila! A clearly labeled door.
That makes a lot more sense.
Now I just need to have a sign with an arrow that says "yes, you really do have to go up ALL of those stairs. Unless you are my grandma. Or pregnant. Then I'll let you take the elevator up" But that's a pretty long sign:)

Yessss! Something new to label! I just love labelling things. I have plans to put numbers on the guest room doors upstairs. You know like, "You're in guest room number 2 tonight."
ReplyDeletehow cute is that hanger!!! love it!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I love the mason jars.
ReplyDeleteyou have an elevator in your house?
ReplyDeletelove the graphics...easy that even a child would know!
super cute and fun.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. Our very small back hallway has 3 doors. We always laugh because when guests come over it is a game of "what is behind door #1, door #2, door #3?" One is the garage entrance, one a coat closet, the other the laundry room! And, our hall coat closet turned supply closet and our downstairs guest bath are right next to each other!
ReplyDeleteThose are a cute idea.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea...and cute labels!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I need to start using my silhouette for fun things like this!
ReplyDeleteVery cute idea!
ReplyDeleteOk, this is awesome, I am with everyone else, hooked on cool labels :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Tanya
Love it!!! Ok, we need further info about the elevator!!! Lol
ReplyDeleteI promise not to get lost ... as long as you let me ride the elevator at least once. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! I did label my pantry door, but I've been thinking about the powder room door, and now I may have to steal the closet door idea. Any thoughts for the door of a guest suite?
ReplyDeleteClever!! Think I'd have to fake an injury for a ride in the elevator, though. :)
