On her first day of school I paid extra special attention to making sure that her hair accessories coordinated with her dress.
That her outfit matched her backpack. Don't worry, I adjusted the straps!
That the lunchbox matched the backpack.
Both are a butterfly theme, perfect for my butterfly birthday girl.
Then I dug out my chalkboard writing slate from months ago, wrote a quick "K" on it, and made her pose for pictures.
I even put on earrings so I could look cute in the photos too.
Then it was off to school, where she took to it like a fish to water, loving her locker-like cubby, her Name Necklace, having an assigned spot in circle, even the super-duper-high monkey bars on the playground.
Now I just have to remember to pick her up at 3:30 everyday, not a time that I'm used to be out and about, it's more my preheat-the-oven-wake-the-baby-prep-dinner-sneak-in-a-book-with-the-preschooler time.
Any advice for a new Kindergarten mom?
Jessica

So adorable. She will love looking back at these pictures one day.
ReplyDeleteMy sugguestion (as I am not a parent, but remember what I loved as a kid) put little notes in her lunch, and pack a good lunch. She will be a hit at the lunch table!
My firstborn will start next year! oh the joy!
ReplyDeleteawww she is so cute! I remember that last year. So glad she is doing ok.
ReplyDeleteThat is some serious cuteness happening. Congrats on the kindergartener!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! She's adorable. I'm trying to think of advice. One thing is to check Trader Joe's and Fresh & Easy (do you have that up there?) for lunch box items. My kids never buy lunch (their choice) and it can be easy to get repetitive. I found these great hummus and pita chip cups yesterday at TJ's and the girls were soo excited to bring them to school.
ReplyDeleteAwww! She is so adorable! I love her little butterfly backpack and lunch box!
ReplyDeleteSo, so cute! Love your earrings, too. Wish I could help ... you'll find your new routine soon, I bet. :)
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is adorable! Love all the coordination you did for her whole outfit & accessories! Brought back a lot of memories of when my now grown up mother of 2 daughter started Kindergarten. My advice would be to become a Room Mom - you will love meeting the other mom's and your daughters new school friends and getting to help the teacher and the kids with craft projects. And if you can, get your daughter involved in one of the scout programs Daisy's or Brownies I think they are called for that age. My daughter & I enjoyed the Daisy's and later the Campfire Girls.
ReplyDeleteaw congrats...what a BIG day. Your daughter looks absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteMy son is going into First, but it is the first year that he will be gone alllll day (Kindergarten was only half day for him.)
So, it's a big year for us over here as well!
My advice; don't lay down for a nap at 2:30. I always got really tired about that time and would think OH I will just shut my eyes for 10 minutes before I have to pick up the kids......
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
Congrats - no tears (or will you be doing the dance of happiness)!?
ReplyDeleteLove the little K slate and coordinated hair bows!
Kelly
Congratulations! She looks adorable:)
ReplyDeleteYes I have advice for you Jessica! My daughter is now 16 and in Grade 11. I would suggest making friends with the Moms of her friends. The girls are going to be going to school together for many years and you will be so thankful to be friends with those other moms. Things will come up and it will be so nice to be able to pick up the phone and call another mom for a chat/advice/clarification. I would suggest having a tea party to meet them all or a lunch out. These girls will likely be her friends until High School. Then around High School, they seem to want/crave new friends. Have a lovely week! Angie xo
