How to Peel Peaches (and a summer peach cobbler recipe)

how to peel peaches

I bought 2 flats of peaches and made 4 peach and blueberries cobblers to put in the freezer for fall. I love having typical summer food in the fall, it just brightens up the meals that are so full of apples, butternut squash and turkey and reminds me of the joys of summer.

I followed the same recipe as I did for my Apple, Pear Cranberry Cobbler, except with peaches and blueberries:)

Peach, blueberry cobbler

Ready for the step-by-step?

Drop peaches into a pot of boiling water for 1-2 minutes.

You want them to get soft enough for the skin to peel off without cooking them or making them too soft.

Next drop the peaches in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking and cool them down enough to handle.

Now you should be able to peel the skin right off while the peaches remain intact.

See how pretty?

Very helpful! We have a peach tree that produces tiny little peaches. They're delicious but there's not much to them. My daughters like to make them into jam, but they're such a pain to peel that I dread it. This will make life easier!

This reminded me that I have peaches in my fridge that need to be eaten. I will have to try this method of peeling them. It sounds really easy.
