Transporting a Potluck Salad

I'm on a food kick these last few weeks in case you can't tell:) You see, in the summer I don't have to do DIY projects or redecorate the house, but I do, without a doubt, have to cook (or provide osme form of nourishment) for my family.

With summer here, you *might* be asked to bring a potluck salad to something.

Here's my general problem with that. The salad will get soggy from the dressing. And you will forget serving utensils, and you will leave your bowl at this person's home and never remember to get it back.

Here is my solution for when looks aren't as important as function.

I just took a picture of the salad that I was bringing to the preschool picnic and my dad (who was visiting) just burst out laughing! Thank goodness for year-round preschool, just saying.

I put my toppings of choice into the store-bought salad mix, in this case candied pecans and dried cranberries. I made a simple mustard vinaigrette that I placed in the small ziploc disposable container, and placed it and the plastic servers into the salad container.

When I arrived at the picnic, I just opened up the container, tossed the salad and went from there, I never looked back:) My husband didn't even blink an eye when he arrived at the picnic and "our" salad was already there.

Hello Jessica,

This salad looks similar to the one that my SIL makes with strawberries. It's delish.

Enjoy your weekend! :)

Wonderful idea. We have a soccer park picnic next weekend and I am to bring a salad. Guess what I am going to bring it in? :)

There's nothing like a fresh tossed salad! Ugh how I hate a soggy piece of wilted lettuce! You must be the hit of that preschool!

Great idea! I always do whatever I can to NOT be the person in charge of bringing salad, because it is so hard to transport. Problem solved!
