Did you know that not only does Target sell washi tape in the ofice supply area but also in the party supply area? I just discovered it when I was picking up last minute supplies for my son's construction themed birthday party.
It looks like this.
I own magnetic bands that wrap around wine glass stems so guests can tell whose glass is whose (thanks Jill!), but I needed a solution for the water and lemonade drinking set.
Enter the washi tape.
A quick swirl around in one of the 9 different patterns and the cups were easy to identify!
The children drank lemonade from knock-off mason jar sippers that I made from baby food jars, you can see more about that here.
I'm also guest posting today at C.R.A.F.T. about 10 (almost) free things to do with kids in Oakland and Berkeley. So if you are headed our way this summer, check it out!

What a great idea. I'm beginning to obsess over washi tape so when I saw your post about it on facebook this morning I had to come check it out. I'm always trying to think of a way to "label" cups at a party...this is genius! I'd love it if you would share this with our readers at our All Star Block Party. We are 5 blogs sharing 1 link party. Your link will show up on all 5 blogs.

never used washi tape but you have inspired me to go find some.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! And it would use up my washi tape before my kids do! I tell them not to but they always seem to find it :)
ReplyDeleteCute! That tape would make a cute dress... ha.
ReplyDeleteCute, colorful, fun and necessary! No more half empty cups lying around parties anymore!

AHHHH! You're a local blogger!! I found you through your C.R.A.F.T. post! I'm so excited to start reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
I need to know more about this washi tape! I think I might be the last person to get on board. This is such a great idea, and a fun way to add color to the clear cups.
ReplyDeleteJessica,
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea! I love it! Much better than the sharpies we use at our parties!
Have a great weekend!

This is a fantastic project! I adore washi tape. Would you consider linking it up at my Pinworthy Projects Party? I hope to see you there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea. See you at My Dream Canvas :-)
ReplyDeleteWow ! What a beautiful idea...!! Love the colorful glasses... !! Wish we get Washi tape here in India ;-) ;-)
ReplyDeleteI really like these cups! In fact, I saw them the day before my daughter's party and went running to grab my washi tape and cups. Unfortunately, my cups weren't smooth so I couldn't get the tape to lay right. But man, your cups sure turned out cute!
