Today, I've finally succumbed to my friend Kerry's house stalking so I'm guest posting on her site, House TalkN today. Stop on by, I might even offer you a glass of wine for your troubles!
Those new bougainvillea plants were just a little too stuck-up for our liking. So one morning my wonderful husband snipped the ties that held the vines to their stakes, and he "trained" them to the sides.
We ordered floral ties off of Amazon and just loosely tied the vines (branches?) to our deck railing.
He wove them in and out of the railings a bit, hoping to buffer them from the wind and anchor them enough to the house that they stay there for more than one season, fingers crossed!
Jessica

ReplyDeleteThose flowers are beautiful. I hope they work out for you. All that pink will look so pretty growing along your railing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! It will be mind blowing once it's all filled in!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Jessica. I love this stuff. Loads of it in California, I grew up with the stuff. Not so much here in Oregon. It's going to look so lush when it gets going! ENJOY =)
ReplyDeletePretty! Love the color.

What a pretty plant! It's going to look lovely! Angie xo
ReplyDeleteI am in the Bay Area too (East Bay) and have been hesitant to put in Bougainvillea because it is so damp, I worry they won't do well.. Have you had trouble growing them? We used to have them in San Diego but it was a little more arid there..
ReplyDeleteI have a fence that is screaming for color and coverage but I wasn't sure if it would be futile planing bougainvillea?
Oh, that's going to be LOVELY!! Good thinking!

Ooh that'll be amazing! Off to see your house tour...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! I planted morning glories last year and they shot up my deck railing seemingly overnight!

That looks a lot easier than the kind of training I am used to...potty training :). I can't wait to see what it looks like as the summer progresses.
ReplyDeleteHello Jessica: My first time to your blog, and I love bouganvilla! It's a little too cold where I live for it to grow, so I will have to admire yours from afar. Take care, and have a great week!
