Paper Handprint Flowers

As you might have seen on my 100% paper mantle, I created a bunch of flowers from paper.

Supplies: Paper, scissors, a pencil, straws for stems, pipe cleaners for stamen. Optional- green paper cut in leaf shapes, and a hole punch to thread the leaves onto the stem.

First I started with some yellow and black paper, left over from the birthday banner form my son's construction themed birthday party.

Trace adorable handprints.

Cut out the hands.

Use a pencil to roll up the "fingers", so that they will curl like flower petals.

Wrap the hands around straws to create a flower shape. Tape closed.

Add on leaves if desired.

To make the stamen, cut a pipe cleaner in half, then bend each half into a "V". Curl one or both sides, then tuck the bottom into the straw.
