His new bedding, with matching shirt.
A dump truck nightlight.
Another shirt. This one has an excavator on it.
We built a house into a hill a giant mountain of rock. So we are intimately acquainted with excavators. And the dump trucks needed to haul away the rocks and dirt.
What better way to celebrate his birthday than with a theme? Plus, orange and yellow are currently pretty high up on his list of favorite colors, so it all fits in. Here's a sneak peek at what I'm planning for this weekend.
That's a bulldozer pinata. It's hiding at the top of the coat closet.
The favors. I'm a big fan of useful favors, not a bag with a ton of junk in it. This year I chose Amelia Bedelia Under Construction with Best Friends for Frances as a backup for the families with two kids, since it isn't necessary to have two copies of Amelia Bedelia, even though she is a favorite in our house.
My son already saw the books and was so excited, we have read them many times in the last few days. The party is on Sunday, so hopefully I'll have the full-party post for you next week!
Jessica

ReplyDeleteAwesome theme! My little guy can't get enough construction-related party stuff either! We went to see an Amish farmhouse being built and now he's obssessed! Found a great theme for his last birthday, with a barnyard fun centerpiece. He loved it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun party idea Jessica! I love the idea of giving books. I hate the bag-o-useless stuff that comes from some parties too.

What a fun party - and your daughter already has her voguing moves down!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite books when I was a kid was A Bargain for Frances! When her mean friend tried to trick Frances out of her tea set! I'm still mad!!
Bought the book for my girls - they love it too!
I agree on the useful favors - sometimes we give matching shirts - anything but a bag full of plastic junk that's going to get tossed within 1 day!
Kelly

ReplyDeleteHey, Lady! That bedding is super cute -- I bet your son loves it! I have to tell you how much I admire your idea to get books as favors. Don't you love the I can read series? They're fun for adults to read aloud, which is always a plus.
