Yes, we did get a rug! I'm so excited, the space is really coming together, plus I got a navy tray (from Crate and Barrel) and the orange birdhouse ties in with our new cooler:)
For brunch I made a vegetable frittata, french toast casserole, berries and coffee (of course). Plus we had a bottle of rose to go with it.
I find french toast to be delicious, but making it to order is time consuming and then I'm stuck in the kitchen. To make it as a casserole you just slice up the bread (I used a cinnamon swirl challah loaf from a local bakery), place it in a casserole dish with the traditional dipping ingredients (sugar, cinnamon, milk, eggs), and bake the whole thing at 350 for about 15-20 minutes.
The frittata also required no hands-on time during our get-together. My husband chopped up the vegetables (mushrooms, asparagus, red onions...), I sauteed them in olive oil in an oven-proof skillet, then poured in the eggs (8), let the bottom set up a bit, maybe 3 minutes, then put the whole thing in the 350 degree oven for 10 minutes til it was cooked through. You can also add cheese and herbs if you'd like. We didn't have any, but I'm a big fan of goat cheese in frittatas, and maybe a little chervil, parsley, chives...
Side note- my 4.5 year old can crack eggs!

Loving the outdoor space! It is really coming together!
ReplyDeleteSounds like such a nice morning! I love the way that deck is coming together. In this photo and in the pics of your kitchen, I keep trying to see what's out the window - looks like you have some incredible views!
ReplyDeleteI love it. Such a beautiful space out there. That french toast looks delicious too. I just might need to try that soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice brunch! Love the venue and the menu. That rug is fantastic! My boys would do the same thing your kids do with the water table!
ReplyDeleteLooking good girl! Love the fresh blues. The rug is really colorful and pretty too. That spread sure looked yummy!! You're making me hungry for some breakfast ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the rug!!! I really hope you'll stop by Wednesday and link up some of you yummy recipes to "what's cooking Wednesday" :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the space and brunch is my favorite food!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? Everything about this is pure perfection. Do you live in a Better Homes and Garden magazine? Each new post, looks like it could come straight out of a magazine.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful space. Do you not have to worry about rain or hail throughout the summer? I believe the rug and furniture would be badly worn just from one spring and summer season here in my part of Canada.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your landscaping post. Please show us as much of the views as possible. Your home inspires me to want to make mine a haven.
Oh yeah, and the food looks YUM!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with that rug. Everything looks so delicious and yummy and the kids look adorable.
ReplyDeleteUmmmm, I want to come to your house for brunch! and have I mentioned before how much I LOVE your deck? It is gorgeous, with an awesome view and your decor makes it even more fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a smart idea a casserole french toast is, for the very reasons you mentioned - standing over it cooking otherwise.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever made mimosas?
Lastly...... tell the kids Auntie Bliss said it's time for mama to buy them a bigger pool.
~Bliss~
Super yum and the rug makes all the difference!!! Looks awesome!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a lovely brunch! I absolutely adore your deck furniture and rug! The blues look so pretty. Your kiddos have the right idea. I've been tempted to myself a kiddie pool for our back patio. It's rough growing up with a pool and not having one once you fly the coup.
ReplyDeleteFrench toast is by far my absolute favorite breakfast food! Love the new accessories on your porch. Looks like you had a wonderful brunch! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWonderful deck, and the food looks delicious. Darling kids, too. :)

Salivating over that rug...
