Pass it On, and a Piano

ruffle pillow

Do not be distracted by the adorable girl, focus on the amazing burlap pillow in front.

The one with the ruffles.

The other two were from Crate and Barrel, just so you know.

I was a lucky recipient of the Pass It On Project.

it all started with paint

That means I got an "in real life" gift from a "virtual" friend, Linda from It All Started with Paint, which is pretty awesome. The pillow arrived while we were away, and by the time we got home it had been raining really hard (lightning even hit the Golden Gate Bridge!) for days. But the package was perfect, and inside I found a card and 2 (!!) pillows.

Obviously, I'm keeping one. The other, I'm passing on to someone else, to brighten their day. I haven't quite figured out who yet:) Part of this project is also that I will make something and pass it on to a few blog friends of mine, also not something I've managed, but it is on the to-do list. You can find a fabulous tutorial for the pillow right here.

What's that? You see a piano in that picture? And you remember that our entry used to look like this:

Lucky for me, my mother was doing a bit of a tweak in her own living room and her piano had to go. This is the same piano that I took lessons on for five years as a child and yet i still can't play. My sister didn't have room for it, so that is why the less-musically-inclined sibling wound up with the piano. Although my husband tells me that he played the saxophone for years and can technically read sheet music and play the piano. Time will tell.

Anyway, with dreams of children banging on the keys learning to play, we cleared the space out...

And three very unhappy movers pushed the piano up the driveway and then carried it up the 30 steps to our front door.

Tada!

The table that used to be there is now under our TV in the living room, in case you were wondering:)

If the banging opps I mean playing ever get old, I will take the piano. Actually on a hunt for one now as I would love my kids to play. Looks fabulous and those poor movers!

I LOVED growing up with a piano (took lessons, but can't play). We spent endless hours pounding and tinkering with the keys. Such a wonderful treat that you had room for it. :-) You'll at least have to learn chopsticks now, right? Love the piano in the entry (and the table under the tv). Both areas look cozier. What are you going to do with the wall by the piano? A mirror or two little white shelves maybe?

I love the pillow... but I must admit that adorable smile is much prettier! Pass It On, what a great idea!
The piano is beautiful addition to your entry way.

I always wished I could play the piano. My little hands were never big enough. My sister played though and I enjoyed sitting beside her and attempting to sing to the music. I hope your kids enjoy the piano.

Are you sure you can't pass on the girl with the pigtails? We are fresh out of children at our house. Love Linda's pillows and I'm so excited for her!
I actually am musically inclined, in my mind.

Love your new piano - it looks beautiful in that spot! The pillow is adorable too!

It's like that space was MADE for the piano...looks beautiful there. Ah you've brought back memories of my piano lessons from my childhood days. I hated to practice back then, but today I'm glad for what little I've retained and for the ability to read sheet music :)

That pillow is so cute! Love the ruffle down the middle. I'm looking for white pillows with some texture to them for the daybed I'm putting in the office...I'll have to take a gander at the tutorial because this would be perfect!

I tried not to be distracted by the cute little girl, or by the cute pillow, but the piano distracted me. Tell your mama to adopt me!

That's funny- I saw the photo of the pillows and thought "that looks like the ones from 'It All Started with Paint'". A Piano is a perfect fit for that space.

The pillow rocks (of course!) and that gorgeous piano is right at home. I, too, have my childhood piano and my daughter learned to play on it. It will be a lovely piece of your "story."

Congratulations! The pillow is great! Love ruffles! The piano is wonderful! All three of our children took lessons for years and the youngest is the best at it - she is now in college and plays piano for our church. My husband, the preacher, played saxophone in High School and can read music - he's teaching himself to play! Encourage your husband and start lessons for those sweet kids! There's nothing like music in the house!
Hope you have a great weekend - your newest follower!

Oh, that is one cute kid to be learning piano lessons in such a nice big house and a grand piano! Amazing! I envy her. I can only teach my daughter through online learning videos for her piano lessons and using a Yamaha organ. :)
