Little Girl's Butterfly Bedroom

In our old house (the one that is the size of our current kitchen) our daughter's room was also painted a fun green color. That room was very dark, had only two windows and was pretty shaded. This room is the opposite. It has five windows, light on two sides, a view, and is super bright. So when we tried painting it the same color as before the results were hideous. Just awful. So after attempts at apple, lime, neon, kelly, olive and stem green, we finally found Benjamin Moore's Potpourri Green, just right.

I've been slowly working on the feature wall across from her bed. It has wall letters that spell her name (with toilet paper roll flowers perched in each letter), a multi-colored butterfly decal, four whimsical prints, bunny ballerina prints that she got at her baby naming, and a butterfly cut-paper art that I picked up on my last trip to Ikea.

I hope you notice the Tot Clock on the dresser. I'm telling you, it's the only thing that keeps her in bed until 6am! Click here to see my post on it from Monday. It will change your life.

All the bedding is from Target (or Tar-jay as my grandmother used to say), as is the lamp and the prints over her bed. Here in Northern California we are in earhtquake country, so I feel pretty good about having super ightweight art over her head as she sleeps, as opposed to something heavy!

  1. My daughter has an all purple and white room... and love butterflies. She has lots of purple butterflies decorated here and there, and recently I bought her some 3D butterflies to put on her wall, she loves them! This room is so beautiful. These are the colors I wanted to do our nursery in if we had a girl (but we had a boy) this time around! I love the green... and all the pretty girlie flowers! Such a nice room. Where did you get that shadow box looking picture with the buterflies? did you make it or buy it?

  6. Butterflies are SO sweet for little girls - love it! My babies are a little older but I'm still very much enjoying all of your home and kiddie posts. Have you ever used the feather butterflies on stems in her birthday cakes? The stems are almost invisible so it appears that the butterflies are just hovering around the cake. My daughter has had them for two birthdays, always a big hit! (Oriental Trading Co.)

  13. Ok clearly we have the same tastes. In addition to the bookcase we have the same sheets and E's bedding is also from Target although it's slightly different. It's such a pretty girls room. I love your wall art. Did you buy the frames at Ikea too? Cute idea with the butterflies.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I love hearing what you have to say! Sometimes I'm busy chasing after the three kids who can walk, or feeding the baby, but I promise, at some point I'll get back to you and head over to your blog (if you have one) to leave you a comment too:)
