We had torrential downpours, made all the more difficult because we have had a relatively dry winter, so this was the first "real" rain of the year. We spent many days inside, including a three day weekend where we had a spray paint party in the garage. Once it was over, my husband and I decided to head out to Ikea as a celebration of my birthday, and the fact that we could now carry things outside to our car without getting soaked, like this blogger did!
We can back with this mess, which we stored in the library. I'm in the process of styling the shelves and bringing more color in.
We have just started to sort it all out, but one of the first things we did was untie all the branches. And when I untied them I was left with a pile of little strings, which looked just like a bird's nest.
He had to go up onto our spring craft mantle right away.
The branches went into this giant vase in our entry. We needed some height in there.
I'm also guest posting today at Stardust- Decor and Style, so come visit me!

A trip to IKEA jealous! The closest IKEA is a couple hours away. Don't make it there nearly as much as I would like :)
ReplyDeleteHasn't this rain been crazy? In fact, this entire winter has been odd. I see you're in the Bay area - I'm in Sacramento. Well, a little outside of it, in Placerville on Hwy 50 towards Tahoe. So when you get rain, you're just a few hours ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for dropping by! I'm so happy to 'meet' you!
Isn't it serendipitous when unexpected decor happens! Lovely little nest!

What a coincidence! We also went to Ikea and we were exhausted... 5.5hrs in the gigantic store with a toddler is pure craziness :) But we were happy with our loot.
ReplyDeleteThe 5th picture... is that a vase or something made out of magazine paper? wow... I've done something like that too and the latest I did is the spice drawer actually inspired by you :)

I said to myself.... "she even used the IKEA twine for something, impressive".
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
What a sweet little birdie...you certainly are resourceful using the twine. I have a feeling, after you style these shelves, this will be yet another room in your home I drool over :)

The nest is awesome and perfect for this cute birdie. However, I also like the furniture in your house. The white and black combination is perfect to have a unique result.
